God regularly admonishes his people to remember how he delivered them in the past and therefore to live in the present by faith. So whether the different festivals in Israel’s history, the repetition of the commandments, or establishing memorials, God’s people remember and then act.
The same is true for New Testament saints. Much of the apostolic teaching is a form of calling to remembrance the truths revealed in the Scripture and the God who gave the Scripture.
Paul exhorts Timothy to remember and act upon the gospel; to remember the power of God’s Word when it is unleashed; to remember the goal of Christian ministry – to endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
