Exodus traces the hand of God’s providential deliverance of his people out of Egypt. While He always rescues His people out of His own sovereign grace, He never does so absent our outside their response of faith. Faith is the essential response of the heart to the promises of God. Exodus 2 traces the response of faith in the actions of Moses’ parents and in Moses’ identification with God’s people. Ultimately though, it is God’s faithfulness to His own covenantal promises that secures our salvation.
